Pediatric Ophthalmology 683 - Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center (CHRMC)

Welcome to the CHRMC Eye Clinic! We are pleased you have chosen a clinical rotation in ophthalmology and will assist you in making your two weeks both educational and rewarding. The purpose of the rotation is for you to learn specific techniques of examining the eye and visual system. In addition, you will be exposed to a wide range of pediatric eye problems, both medical and surgical.

The following individuals will supervise and coordinate your rotation:

Avery H. Weiss, MD Ophthalmologist-in-Chief
Mark J. Greenwald, MD Ophthalmologist
Julie Jones Ophthalmic Technician/Clinical Manager

The CHRMC Eye Clinic is located on the 5th Floor of the Children's Pavilion. Please report to the Eye Clinic at 8:00 AM the first morning of your rotation.

You will observe surgeries on Wednesdays beginning at 8:30 AM. Please arrive in time to change into operating attire prior to commencement of the case. The Day Surgery Unit is located in the E-Wing, 4th Floor. Call the Eye Clinic at (206) 526-2177 beforehand to make certain cases are scheduled and to acquaint yourself with the planned procedure.

Attendance at Thursday Morning Conferences (7:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the Conference Room of the Department of Ophthalmology, Room BB-824 Health Sciences Building) is mandatory; accordingly, students are excused from clinic during that time.

Attendance at Ophthalmology Grand Rounds on Thursdays at 10:45 AM (following Thursday Morning Conferences) is strongly encouraged. Check with one of the residents or attendings for topic and location.

If you have particular questions or need further assistance, please call Julie Jones in the CHRMC Eye Clinic at (206) 526-2177.

Once again, welcome to Children's!

Avery H. Weiss, MD
Ophthalmologist-in-Chief
